New general contractor order: Fire protection renovation of the Hans-Böckler-Platz subway station
Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH has been awarded another significant contract in the field of safety-critical transport infrastructure. The company is undertaking the fire protection renovation of the Hans-Böckler-Platz/Bahnhof West subway station for the City of Cologne – this time in the role of general contractor (GC), and thus with overall responsibility for all construction and finishing trades. The project has a total volume of around 30 million Euros.
The measure includes comprehensive fire protection adjustments to the underground station to meet current legal and technical requirements. These include, among other things, the creation of additional escape and rescue routes, structural adjustments in the platform area, the construction of new stair systems, and the modernization of the technical infrastructure. In addition to the electrical renovation, structural, finishing, ventilation, and safety technology trades will also be coordinated and implemented.
Implementation will take place in several construction phases, taking into account ongoing light rail operations. This requires precise scheduling and sequencing, as well as close coordination with all project participants to minimize disruption for passengers.
With this major project, Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH further expands its expertise in the realization of complex infrastructure measures in public transport and underlines its role as a high-performing partner for challenging overall projects.
