Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH celebrates its 80th anniversary
Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH is a family-run, traditional Cologne-based company that, in 2023, can look back on 80 successful years in electrical system construction. Since its founding in 1943 by Mr. Emil Koch, we have stood for reliability, quality, and expertise – and have been a strong partner to the public sector ever since, particularly in the Cologne area.
In the years following World War II, our company made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the city's infrastructure. Bringing Cologne back to life was a task to which Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH devoted itself wholeheartedly – and one that continues to shape our identity to this day.
Over the decades, the former sole proprietorship developed into a firmly established player in the Cologne electrical trade. Company founder Emil Koch was not only entrepreneurial but also heavily involved in volunteer work. A long-standing member of the Cologne Electrical Trades Association, he was elected Master Electrician in 1973 and Honorary Master Electrician in 1978. Training young electricians was also a central concern of the company from the very beginning – and remains so to this day.
In the early 1980s, master electrician Joseph Saam, a long-time employee, took over management of the company. With great commitment and professional excellence, he successfully led Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH into its "second generation." Major projects such as the electrical systems construction for the Cologne Trade Fair Center and numerous subway stations in Cologne were realized under his leadership.
Today, the company is run as a third-generation family business, with over 80 qualified employees in planning, administration, and on construction sites. For eight decades, we have been a reliable partner for public and commercial clients – and we look to our history with pride and confidence.
