Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH realisiert Container-Unterwerk für die Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG

Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH is building a container substation for the Cologne Transport Authority (Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG).

Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH has received another order in the field of safety-critical transport infrastructure. The company, acting as general contractor for Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG (KVB), will supply and install a container substation at the Cologne-Merheim site.

The project involves replacing an existing skid-mounted substation with a modern containerized substation to supply energy to the Merheim train depot. The scope of work includes, among other things, the construction of the medium- and low-voltage supply systems, the installation of the DC system including transformers, and the complete building and on-site electrical installation for the substation.

Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH is working closely with Siemens Mobility GmbH on this project. The technical implementation is being carried out taking into account the high requirements for availability, operational reliability, and integration into KVB's existing infrastructure.

The work is partly taking place while the facility is in operation and requires precise planning as well as close coordination with all project stakeholders. The aim is to sustainably modernize and secure the electrical power supply of the depot for the long term.

With this order, Emil Koch Elektrotechnik GmbH once again underlines its competence as a general contractor for complex projects in public transport.
